SEND NEWS was honored in July in New Orleans with the Unsung Heroes Award by CLOUT—Religious and Educational Association of Louisiana, for being a strong representative of the church, civic, corporate and medical community. Dr. Kleinpeter is associate professor of clinical medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine and serves as director of the Peritoneal Dialysis Program for Tulane/Dialysis Clinics Inc., and director of the Tulane Nephrology Clinic at the Medical Center of Louisiana, formerly known as Charity Hospital. She formerly served as director of the ambulatory clinics at the Medical Center of Louisiana of New Orleans from 1999-2005. She serves as chair of medical affairs for the board of trustees for the American Kidney Fund and president of the board for the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana. She is past president of the Orleans Parish Medical Society. She is the current president of the Louisiana Medical Association, and currently serves as a commissioner for Hospital District A, Orleans Parish, in redeveloping a community hospital in New Orleans East. 95 Dr. Jeffrey D. Carron was recently promoted to professor of otolaryngology and pediatrics at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he is also the director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program. 99 Dr. Amanda B. Hilmer (NC 95) recently joined Family Care Health Centers in St. Louis. She is board-certi?ed in internal medicine. After graduating from the Tulane School of Medicine in 1999, she completed her residency program at Washington University School of Medicine. 83 Dr. Richard Hunt Bobo (A&S 79) is practicing neurosurgery in Tupelo, Miss. He is married to Sara Phillips Bobo and has twin 15-year-old daughters, Rachel and Jenny. Dr. Rachel L. Levine, formerly Richard, is a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine, vice chair for clinical affairs in the Department of Pediatrics, and chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Eating Disorders at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. She trained at Mount Sinai in New York City and was on staff for ?ve years. She then left New York and moved to central Pennsylvania in 1993 to Penn State–Hershey, where she enjoys the mix between the clinical care of teens and young adults with eating disorders, teaching, research and administration. She has two children, David and Dayna. Drs. Mark and Daphne Anderson (both M 83) live in Spring?eld, Mo. He practices interventional cardiology, and she has recently retired from dermatology practice. 87 Dr. Julie Amstutz Hodge (PHTM 87, R 91) has begun a four- year term as a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is an assistant clinical professor at the University of California at Irvine, and a past president of the Dermatologic Society of Orange County and of the Paci?c Dermatologic Society. 88 Dr. Kathryn E. Maccaulay has lived in Seattle for the past 19 years with her husband, Tom. They have four children, and two of the four are college-age. She is looking forward to seeing her classmates at her 25th reunion from medical school. Dr. Eric A. Schoenberg does full- time independent contracting as an anesthesiologist and is a part-time ?ight surgeon in the Air National Guard. He is mostly busy with two children, a wife and two cats. 89 Dr. Frederick M. Azar was elected ?rst vice president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Board of Directors at its annual meeting in Chicago. Azar serves as chief-of-staff of the Campbell Clinic, as well as a professor and director of the sports medicine fellowship program in the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He was also director of the departments residency program for 10 years. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA), along with many other national and international groups. Azar also serves as the team physician for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies and sports teams at the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers University. Dr. O. Alton Barron (R 94) and his wife Dr. Carrie Barron (Grace Caroline Vigilante, M 89), published a self-help book a year ago called The Creativity Cure, with an introduction written by Bruce Springsteen. Dr. Myra A.
