Lloyd, associate dean of executive education, had his article Preparing a New Generation of Leaders to Meet Social and Industry Challenges published in the November issue of Petroleum Africa magazine. Also, for the fourth consecutive year, Lloyd conducted the newcomers workshop at the annual UNICON Team Development Conference in December at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Stanimir Markov, associate professor of accounting, gave research talks at Erasmus University and Tilburg University in Holland. Darius Miller, Caruth Chair in Finance, had his paper Uninvited U.S. Investors? Economic Consequences of Involuntary Cross Listings accepted for publication in the Journal of Accounting Research. He also gave invited research talks at conferences held by Stanford University and the University of Chicago. Sandy Miller, Business Library director, presented during a Library/User-Community Partnership Session at the Cross Timbers Library Collaborative Conference held in Denton in August. The presentation, titled Finance Gets a Facelift: Building a Trading Center, helped conference attendees learn how to create and develop technology-rich spaces dedicated to instruction and outreach that provide opportunities to educate, inspire, develop relationships and attract new customers. Andrew Poehlman, assistant professor of marketing, had his article Potential: The Valuation of Imagined Future Achievement published in January in Cognition, an international journal dedicated to the study of the mind. The manuscript was the basis for a presentation of the same name that Poehlman gave at the Association for Consumer Research conference in October. At the same conference, he presented a talk titled Sentimental Social Roles and the Objects that Elicit Them, which examines how vintage consumer products make women idealize traditional activities. R. Canan Savaskan- Ebert, associate professor of information technology and operations management, was appointed as an associate editor for the Decision Sciences Journal. Ulrike Schultze, associate professor in information technology and operations management, gave an invited presentation titled Towards a Discursive Theory of Social Media Affordances for Identity Work, at HEC Montreal, Canada, in November. She was also part of the Performativity and Discourse SIG-PHIL Panel presentation in Milan, Italy, in December. At the same ICIS Conference in Milan, Schultze was part of a panel in the Philosophy Special Interest Group commenting on the current debate in the file around sociomaterial theorizing, particularly the theoretical lenses that agential and critical realism offer. Schultze also gave a keynote address at the 36th Information Systems Research Seminar (IRIS) in Scandinavia. The theme of the conference was digital living. She presented her research on the avatar-self relationship, titled Being a Cyborg: Identity Work in a Posthuman Era. Schultze served as opponent in a dissertation defense at the University of Vaxsjo in Sweden and gave a talk while she was there. She also wrote a case on Worthington Healthcare Systems (an anonymizing pseudonym of the actual company) that has been chosen for an international IT case competition for undergraduates. This is the second time that one of Schultzes cases has been used in this competition. Raj Sethuraman, Marilyn and Leo Corrigan Endowed Professor and Marketing Department chair, wrote an invited, co-authored review article titled The Competition Between National Brands and Store Brands: Models, Insights, Implications, and Future Research Directions that was published in the journal Foundations and TrendsĀ® in Marketing. Sethuraman also chaired the session and presented a paper, The Effect of Consumer Brand Equity on Firm Brand Profitability: Insights from Equilibrium Analysis of Duopoly Models, at the Great Lakes Institute of Management global marketing conference in Chennai, India, in December. Wayne Shaw, who holds the Helmut Sohmen Endowed Professorship in Corporate Governance, co-authored The Cost of Compliance to Sarbanes-Oxley: An Examination of the Real Estate Investment Industry, with William Terando. It is forthcoming in Auditing: Journal of Theory and Practice. James L.
