<P>30 COX DEVELOPMENT EY (Ernst & Young) has concluded the successful ?rst year of a ?ve- year campaign to raise $500,000 in scholarships for the Cox MSA (Master of Science in Accounting) Program. The company has taken a leadership role in this commitment, pledging $125,000 in corporate funding. EY partners and employees are encouraged to participate, with the EY Foundation matching each individual commitment. EY partners Terry Hosey (BBA 89) and Deborah Stanford (BBA 87), co-chairs of the fundraising effort, recognize the unique quality of this initiative: a combination of corporate, personal and matching gift commitments. EYs relationship with and continued support of SMU is important, not only for our recruiting efforts at SMU Cox, but also for the client relationships we build through our relationships at SMU, says Hosey. More than 175 SMU alumni are currently employed at EY. During 2013, the participation rate of SMU alumni giving at EY more than doubled, which enabled EY to exceed its ?rst-year goal for the campaign. The Cox School is grateful for its long-standing partnership with EY. For more than 30 years, EY has played a critical role in the success of SMU Cox and in the development of key academic programs. Many of these initiatives came to fruition under, and continue to be supported by, retired EY leaders such as David Alexander, former regional managing director; Donald Key, former senior partner and current adjunct faculty member; and Billie Ida Williamson (BBA 74), former senior partner and current member of the Cox Campaign Steering Committee. Examples of EYs donation of time, talent and financial support at SMU Cox include: • Establishment of the Ernst & Young Endowed Teaching and Research Fellowship, which provides salary and/ or equipment for a faculty member who desires to develop and implement In December, Dean Albert W. Niemi, Jr. hosted a luncheon for several regional EY leaders to recognize the five-year commitment to Cox MSA scholarships and to celebrate the success of its kickoff year.
